POWER has produced his 14th Stakeswinner overnight with Helvic Dream comprehensively winning the Group 3 International Stakes over 2000m by a widening 7 Lengths margin. The Noel Meade trained 3YO gelding is out of the Danehill Dancer mare, Rachevie and has now taken his record to an impressive 10: 3-1-5, only ever being out of the placings once.
Settling towards the rear, the son of Power made smooth progress on the outer from early in the straight and swept through to lead with over a furlong to race. He stretched clear in the closing stages, going on to score easily by seven and a half lengths. Up Helly Aa, the 2/1 favourite, finished second, while Raise You (16/1) was a further four and a half lengths back in third. Meade said afterwards about Helvic Dream: "I thought he was good all year but things just haven't gone right for him with one thing and another. "I don't know where he will go next, and there is the possibility we could travel with him. He'll stick to Stakes races now". Helvic Dream continues on the outstanding run of form of Oaklands stallion Power, with this being his 23rd winner for the new season. His European progeny have been excelling this season, with Power sitting on the Leading Sires List across, Italy, France, Great Britain and Ireland. His versatility as a stallion also on show with black type success ranging from 5 furlong sprinters to 10 furlong winners. His crosses across Danehill-line mares also proving to be very potent, with great success coming from broodmare sires Exceed and Excel (Laws of Indices) and Danehill Dancer (4 runners for 4 winners & 1 SW). Power's oldest Australian-bred progeny are now yearlings and will be hitting the sales ring from January 2021 at the Magic Millions sales.
