The Oaklands Stud Farm were thrilled to see resident stallion, Power (Oasis Dream) sire his 12th stakes winner courtesy of Wakanaka’s (2f ex Storyline by Kodiac) win in the Premio Vittorio Crespi (Listed, 1200m) at Milan.
The two-year-old filly beat Fulgentia (Territories) into second with Permetti (Helmet) coming home in third. Watch the race here > Power’s stakes winners are headed by Group 2 winning pair Gift Of Power, who won the Wakefield Challenge Stakes (Gr 2, 1200m) and La Force in the US. Having been the champion 1st and 2nd Season Sire in NZ, Power's first QLD-bred yearlings will hit the sales ring next year with great excitement. He has been very popular early in the season with bookings and is on track for a record season in the breeding barn. He will stand for a fee of $11,000 (inc GST) this season. Power has produced a swag of winners this week.....

Well it’s been a POWER-packed month already in June with a lot of relevant racing going on around the world. It has been great to watch the restart of the European racing from France to England and Ireland, the quality racing in Japan has continued and we look forward to New Zealand racing kicking off again later this week.
From an Oaklands perspective it’s been an exciting period watching the POWER progeny back racing and winning at an amazing strike rate! We also revelled in watching Neorealism’s ¾ brother, Real Impact siring his first Group 1 winner in Japan from his first crop. Power-Packed June
In Ireland, POWER has also tasted success this week with the first up successes of Powerful Ted (over 2600m) and Alexei Vronsky (over 2200m). It’s been really interesting to note the success that POWER is having not only over the short course distance, but the progeny are getting over further ground as they mature. Very exciting to see.
Closer to home NZ import Power O’Hata won again for the Hayes & Dabernig team as they now look towards black type with the improving mare. With 6 wins and 6 placings from only 22 starts she has already been terrific money spinner, however the Hayes & Dabernig team are finding plenty of improvement in her. Bjorn Baker was able to produce a win at the first start for 4YO gelding, Straight Torque. Out of an O’Reilly mare, he looks to have a nice sprinting future ahead of him. POWER'S recent strike rate since European Racing has resumed (where his most mature progeny are) is through the roof! He has produced:
There are several other very relevant points to note as we see further trends develop. He has a high strike rate of runners to winners, across many different broodmare sire lines. He has proven to be very potent with mares from Zabeel or Zabeel-line sires, he has a 100% strike rate with Danehill Dancer and Danzero, is very potent across Sadler’s Wells and son, Montjeu.
NEOREALISM’S Three-Quarter brother captures Group 1 Success
Latest highlights....
Excitement at the farm recently watching Neorealism's 3/4 brother, Real Impact, siring his first Group 1 winner from his first crop in Japan. Lauda Sion captured the feature NK Mile for 3 year olds over the 1600m.
With Real Impact not standing in Australia this season, Neorealism is your chance to access this successful bloodline and a great opportunity for QLD breeders. Bookings open now. |
