Oaklands Stud now stands TSUIMAI (Thunder Gulch- Triscay-Marscay).
Quality is measured in many ways. But racing’s truest and fairest barometer is its system of black type events in which success invariably goes to the best competitors.
TSUIMAI, the newest addition to the stallion ranks at Oaklands Stud, proved his credentials in the heat of battle in Group and Listed races on numerous occasions. He took his career highlight in the time honoured Gloaming Stakes (G2), racing home well clear of the field in record time.
Tsuimai also clinched placings in the AJC Epsom Handicap and Spring Champion Stakes, both G1s, and the Gosford Guineas (L) to underline his claims to greatness.
But Tsuimai’s exploits merely reflect the outstanding merit which permeates throughout his family tree. A son of Gulch’s Kentucky Derby winner Thunder Gulch (USA) and Triscay, the five-times G1 winning daughter of Marscay, Tsuimai has a pedigree literally dripping black type.
Besides his crushing Derby win, Thunder Gulch captured another three events at G1 level, and he has left a marvelous legacy with a stable of top flight winners in the USA and Australia.
Triscay has also imparted her race winning qualities to siblings of Tsuimai including the flying La Baraka (Galaxy G1) and her dam is the listed winner Tristram Lady, whose progeny include the versatile runner Majestically.
Tsuimai, bred on the same Mr Prospector sire-Marscay mare line as 2005 Stradbroke winner St Basil, retires with a proud and enviable record and is ready to create a dynasty of his own.
