Oaklands stallions progeny to clash in Brisbane

BOOKMAKERS are likely to keep their guard up with Pure Angel, a daughter of Lion Hunter, when she runs at Doomben on June 14.

Pure Angel (Lion Hunter-Katy’s Angel-Regal Classic Can) will lock horns in the Alfie Langer Maiden Plate (1110 metres) with Just Jan (Iglesia-Kinellan-Sir Silver Lad NZ) and Checkit (Lion Hunter-Contort-Palace Music USA). The Fred Adams-trained Pure Angel is on the comeback trial. She finished third on debut at Clifford Park in Toowoomba on November 5 before finishing fourth against similar company there on November 26. Adams then turned her out to spell and Pure Angel trialled at Gatton on May 23 in preparation for her return. She finished fifth in the trial won by Friendly Embrace. Michael Cahill, who has secured a licence to ride in Hong Kong next season, has taken the mount on Pure Angel. Just Jan has failed to run a place in her two starts so far but Queensland Derby winning jockey Glenn Lynch has returned the ride. Connections of Checkit will need a scratching to get the emergency runner into the starting line-up.
