ONE of Australia's best modern day sprinters will stand at leading Queensland thoroughbred nursery Oaklands Stud next spring. All Bar One, a winner of nine of his 25 starts and over $548,000, will take his position alongside Aucash, Break the Vault, Ferocity, Iglesia, Pure Theatre, Tsuimai and Salt Lake City at the Darling Downs stud. In a deal brokered by Magic Millions, All Bar One is being syndicated to stand his maiden season at stud in 2007. Oaklands Stud principal Neville Stewart said: “All Bar One is a great addition to the stallion ranks at Oaklands.
“I was very excited about his speed and pedigree.
“He will definitely suit colonial bred mares and he is an excellent type, with a keen eye and possesses great strength through his shoulder and hindquarter.
“All Bar One meets all the criteria to make a first class sire.” Stewart added.
All Bar One was purchased as a yearling by Hoss and Gillian Heinrich for $85,000 at the 2003 Magic Millions Gold Coast sale. Trained during his career by Gillian, All Bar One established himself as one of the country’s most electrifying and popular sprinters.
Gillian Heinrich always rated All Bar One highly. She said the colt was cheeky during his two-year-old days but had always displayed ability and improved with age.
“As a two-year-old he was cheeky but always very strong and I have no doubt he is going to be a good horse…his form this year (2006) has been his best, he’s becoming more relaxed with all the experience and his winter campaign should be a cracker…he never let me down and Hoss and I have such a big opinion of him that when he retires we will keep an interest in the horse”. Gillian Heinrich said.
Gillian Heinrich’s assessments were shared by the likes of Magic Millions General Manager David Chester who said he was an exceptionally fast and consistent sprinter.
Likewise premiership winning jockeys Glen Colless and Stathi Katsidis agreed with the high praise for All Bar One after having ridden him in respective victories. Even rival trainer Danny O’Brien had kind words for All Bar One’s power and was content to see him conclude a Melbourne campaign after clashing with his mare Glamour Puss. The Heinrich’s are very confident of All Bar One’s stud career and have retained shares in the stallion.
“It is important to both of us that All Bar One goes to a successful commercial stud and we are elated that he will be retiring to Oaklands Stud.” Hoss Heinrich said.
ALL BAR ONE - THE RACEHORSE
From just 25 starts All Bar One proved himself one of the region's premier sprinters.
His record of nine wins and five minor placings for prizemoney of $548,750 proved his status as a high class racehorse. A winner in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, All Bar One won the Group Two Sir Byrne Hart Stakes and the listed WJ Adams Stakes at stakes level.
He also turned on one of the most explosive performances the Moonee Valley track had ever seen on Cox Plate Day to romp home in a Crown Trophy in a truly dominating performance. All Bar One's placings included a second in a Group Three Liverpool City Cup and third in a Group One BTC Cup and Group Two QTC Cup.
He was also third in the inaugural Magic Millions Sprint earlier this year.Magic Millions General Manager David Chester said: “I’ve watched All Bar One race, he was exceptionally fast and consistent, winning nine races up to G2 level – an ‘exceptional sprinter’.
”I believe All Bar One is ideal for Queensland and being a son of Hennessy, the same sire as boom first season sire Johannesburg, this is a smart purchase for Oaklands Stud.”
